Women's Basketball Falls to the Rock

SLIPPERY ROCK--Colleen Kegerreis (Schuylkill Haven/Schuylkill Haven) scored a team-high 16 points, but it wasn't enough as Bloomsburg University lost to Slippery Rock, 81-51, in women's basketball action on Saturday.

Bloomsburg held an early 10-4 lead in the game after a jumper from Stephanie Rankin with 15:54 to play in the opening half. Following a timeout, the Rock rallied on the strength of a 14-0 run to grab an 18-10 lead.

Later, leading, 29-22, Slippery Rock closed out the half with a 9-2 run to take a 38-24 margin into the break.

In the second half, Slippery Rock opened with a 12-2 run to go up by 24 points. Bloomsburg did the deficit back to 18 after another jumper from Rankin with 13:39 to play, but that would be as close as the Huskies would get the rest of the way.

Along with Kegerreis getting 16 points, Monica Dennison (Zion Grove/Hazleton Area) added 11for the Huskies, now 4-9. Hailey Gadosh scored 23 points for Slippery Rock, now 5-9, while Julie Molloy added 18 points.

Bloomsburg plays at Edinboro on Sunday at 1 p.m.
